How to create legal spheres that are free from animal suffering

In recent years, vegan legal action brought several vegan cases to court. The talk will give an overview of these cases.

Cases will be presented that show how the county of Berlin was successfully sued against the apportionment of costs at schools for nonvegan food. The 2 court decisions against the county of Berlin that claimed, that there is no right to vegan food in German schools will be commented on and some of the arguments that are brought to the German Supreme Court on that topic will be shown. The German Supreme Court has accepted that case and it will probably be decided in 2018/19.

Civil court cases of moral damage that has been granted to a patient that was given nonvegetarian application are shown, as well as a very important case of the Social Court of Berlin that decided that ethical veganism is protected by the German Constitution and that the state has no right to interfere into vegan food choice.

In addition, the presenter will show different actual cases that have potential to become model cases.

The second Part of the talk will focus on other possibilities to create legal spheres that are free from animal suffering, such as hunting free, fishing free and animal free private and public property, vegan medication and more…
